Over the past fifteen years, Saturday in the Park has financially supported local women’s charities with programs dedicated to providing shelter, counseling, advocacy and education for women and their families in Monmouth and Ocean counties - places of safety where hope can be realized and a new way of living can be learned. Our
2009 list of organizations will include:
Epiphany House of Asbury Park & Long
Branch. Epiphany House provides transitional housing and services to create and maintain a self-affirming life to homeless women and children who seek to recover from addiction. A major goal of the organization is to break the chain of addiction by preventing children from repeating these patterns.
Providence House, Lakewood. Providence House offers services to women and children who are affected by domestic violence. Services include emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling and therapy as well as community education and training.
Spring House, Eatontown

Manna House,
Cliffwood Beach
- Manna House is a transitional housing program for women and children, designed to provide a safe living environment and an indepth Life skills program geared toward ending homelessness.
Saturday in the Park and the Jersey
Shore Running Club offer a group-training running program,
Rundamentals
beginning in June. Rundamentals
is a ten-week program geared toward first time runners and those who would like to return to running after a break. Part of the JSRC’s Saturday in the Park Women’s 5K, the main objective is to encourage women to enjoy the benefits of running. JSRC volunteer, Liz Ireland, coordinates the program. Liz is a veteran runner of 35 years and an ASED (American Sport Education Program) certified running coach through Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). Liz has organized marathon training for JSRC members for 10 years. Other experienced JSRC club member volunteers will provide assistance.
